Tower Renewal Research Network
Toronto’s vast inheritance of modern residential towers, located throughout the region, makes the city unique. Housing hundreds of thousands, these buildings represent remarkable experiments in post-war planning, as well as complex and evolving communities. These structures converge on many urban issues facing the region today; from social equity to greenhouse gas reduction; economic development to regional transport. In the coming months, the Tower Renewal Research Network will bring together those engaged in urban, technical and community research related to these structures and neighbourhoods; to enable a continuing dialogue to better understand the histories, challenges and potential of our high-rise communities.
