Lara Herald

Lara Herald holds a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto as well as an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History, Art History, and Fine Art. Her Master’s thesis explored the potential of landscape urbanism to provide a foundation for the incremental renewal and revitalization of a post-industrial rust belt city. Prior to joining ERA, Lara worked in residential landscape design, through which she gained a range of knowledge in planting, materials, and detail design.

Lara’s work at ERA is influenced by her interest in historical context and contemporary socio-cultural patterns, and how the convergence of these factors can shape urban space and the public realm. Her other areas of interest include strategic place-making as well as cultural landscape analysis and mapping. Her projects focus primarily on landscape master-planning, urban design and renewal, heritage assessment, heritage interpretation, and community-driven design.
