Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons

Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons

Summary

ERA was retained to prepare a master plan to protect the remains of three 17th century stone fireplaces at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons Mission, National Historic Site near Midland, Ontario. Dating from the foundation of the Jesuit mission in 1639 the fireplaces are the oldest architectural artifacts in Canada of European origin west of Quebec City.

The work entails the conservation of the Great and Chapel Fireplaces, as well as the implementation of a long-term maintenance and protection plan for all three fireplaces.
